🌀 ZigZag Tricks
Raindrop Mushrooms
Teacup Clouds
One morning, Curioot became
interested in a puddle.
The puddle sat in the middle
of the trail looking perfectly
ordinary.
Curioot studied it carefully
like a bookworm.
Then circled around it.
The mud seemed pleased
with the decision.
So Curioot circled a little
farther around.
The mud became muddier.
Curioot considered this.
Then circled farther around again.
The puddle remained pleased
with the arrangement.
Around the puddle went Curioot.
Around the puddle around the mud
around the puddle around the mud.
By noon, the trail had become
mostly mud and very little trail.
The puddle appeared to be
winning.
It seemed very proud of
itself.
Nearby, a mushroom was wearing
a raindrop.
The raindrop looked delighted.
The mushroom tried to act
casual about the whole thing.
A breeze wandered through
carrying a cloud shaped
like a teacup.
Curioot tilted its head.
The cloud tilted back.
A pinecone balanced on a root.
Several leaves gathered to watch.
Nobody seemed concerned about
the puddle anymore.
Not even the puddle.
Farther ahead, the trail curved
around a patch of sunlight that
appeared to be growing sideways.
Curioot wandered over to inspect it.
The sunlight seemed busy
painting freckles on the forest.
The pinecone remained balanced.
The mushroom continued wearing
its raindrop.
And somewhere behind them,
the puddle quietly ran out
of circles.
By afternoon, Curioot had found
three new trails, two interesting
questions, and a pinecone that
seemed to know something.
The mud was still there.
The forest simply had better ideas.
And the moon smiled upside down.
The earth whispered, "Wheee."
And there are popsicles on
Thursdays.
The trail wondered off
Trees nod politely
