🌀 ZigZag Tricks
Walrus Teacup
Seaweed Mustache
Nobody had ever seen Tibbli
in much of a hurry.
The wind usually was.
One morning, Tibbli climbed
into its little boat.
The water was already moving.
The wind was already blowing.
The sail was lying in a heap,
wrinkled as a sleeping accordion.
Tibbli took the rope.
Pull.
The sail lifted.
Pull.
The sail lifted a little more.
A sandwich was waving
from the lunch basket.
Tibbli let go.
The boat drifted sideways
like a duck on roller skates.
A fish swam past wearing
a seaweed mustache and
carrying mustard.
The mustache had handlebars.
"Bon appétit."
A seagull landed carrying a clam
like a briefcase.
"You've traveled
approximately nowhere."
"Thank you."
Tibbli took another bite.
The wind waited, making tiny
hats out of sea foam.
The rope cleared its throat.
"Oh."
Tibbli took a pull.
The wrinkled sail rose like
a walrus getting out of a teacup.
Pull.
It stretched.
Pull.
It opened.
Then—
the wind caught it.
The sail filled like a frog's
cheeks at a birthday party.
The boat leaned.
The sandwich slid six inches
and reconsidered everything.
Tibbli wasn't pulling anymore.
The sea opened ahead.
Wheeeee!
The moon smiled upside down.
The earth whispered, "Wheee."
And there are popsicles on
Thursdays.
Small pull
Big wheeee
