🌀 ZigZag Tricks
Bubble Puddles
Dragonfly Detours
The trail had more than one
good idea.
About as many as a carnival
has popcorn smells.
A puddle sat on the trail blowing
bubbles.
One bubble wore a tiny hat.
Nobody mentioned it.
Some suggested turning around
and finding popcorn instead.
The puddle suggested nothing at
all.
It was busy being a puddle.
Virex zigzagged sideways.
Just far enough.
Where the edges become colors.
It followed a line of curious stones
and stepped over a friendly root.
Then nodded politely to a fern and
arrived on the other side looking
pleasantly surprised.
The puddle was still there.
It seemed perfectly happy about it.
The others blinked.
"You didn't go through."
Virex looked back.
"I noticed."
Nobody knew whether that was
the answer.
Nobody minded.
A dragonfly took a detour
over Tuesday and through
a rainbow.
Sometimes there was another way.
Like walking around a rainbow
instead of under it.
The puddle blew another bubble.
It wore two hats.
Nobody mentioned that either.
Even the puddle seemed pleased.
The dragonflies applauded.
Dragonflies do that before
changing their minds.
The moon smiled upside down.
The earth whispered, "Wheee."
And there are popsicles on
Thursdays.
