Red maple leaves in the foreground frame a scenic view of a lake and forest under a cloudy sky, evoking a serene autumn mood.

Snail Bounce

Spark Puzzles

A sleepy idea stretches and

the whole trail follows.

A fern uncurls its feathers,

wearing a tiny backpack.

It appears overprepared.

Three sleepy pebbles decide

to become a path.

A fourth sleeps through it.

One cloudy morning, the forest

forgot what morning was supposed

to feel like.

The breeze was still deciding

which direction to wander.

The birds looked at one another

as if the morning had arrived

wearing the wrong hat.

Even the sunlight arrived a little

late, it had stopped to admire

a spiderweb.

Cindlet bounced once.

It wasn't a very impressive bounce.

In fact, a passing snail politely

pretended not to notice.

But the earth did.

The trail gave a tiny stretch.

A leaf applauded.

Its sandwich fell out.

Somewhere overhead, a cloud

remembered it had somewhere to be.

One bird cleared its throat.

Another started humming

to itself.

The creek laughed because

creeks usually know what

comes next.

Soon the whole forest was

awake again and stopped

walking on tiptoes.

Someone asked Cindlet how it

managed to wake everything up.

It looked around, wonderfully

puzzled.

"I thought you started."

The sun didn't argue.

After all...

it's difficult to know who lights

the first spark.

Especially when Cindlets are

involved.

The moon smiled upside down.

The earth whispered,"Wheee."

And there are popsicles on

Thursdays.

Every spark borrows

a little yesterday
